Friend Friday: Beauty Products

I absolutely love this week's Friend Friday questions involving beauty products!  I'll be the first to admit I'm a product junkie - you can find chapsticks, lip glosses and lipsticks in every purse and bag I own; I have a vanity drawer devoted to nail polishes; I have 2 Kaboodles (remember those??) full of make-up - I can keep going, but I think you get it.

What's your favorite drug store makeup product and your favorite higher-end product?

Fav Drug Store Make-Up
  1. Maybelline Unstoppable Eyeliner in Onyx
  2. Revlon Moon Drops Lipsticks in Hot Coral and Love That Pink - much brighter than pictured
  3. CoverGirl Lashblast Waterproof Mascara in Very Black

Fav High-End Make-Up
  1. Nars Blush Duo in Orgasm & South Beach
  2. Shu Uemura Eye Lash Curler - no longer available in the US!
  3. ALL Laura Mercier Products - but especially Secret Concealer 2 and Brow Definer in Warm
  4. ALL Deborah Lippmann Nail Polishes - I particularly love the multi-colored glitter of Happy Birthday

Is there one type of product that is your go-to, can't live without?

Can't Live Without Products

  1. HAIR: Biosilk Silk Therapy
  2. LIPS: Rosebud Salve
  3. NAILS: Creative Solar Blam (cuticles)
  4. EYES/SKIN: Bobbi Brown Eye Cream

What's the best hair product you've ever used?
I have an unfair advantage when it comes to hair because my mom is a FANTASTIC hair stylist.  I'm extremely lucky because she showers me with so many hair care products I don't have time to use/try them all!  In fact, here's a shot of some (yes, I have MORE products in my cabinets) of my hair products:

FAVORITE HAIR CARE LINES:
Kerastase, Rene Furterer, j.f. lazartigue, Bumble and bumble.

FAVORITE HAIR PRODUCTS:
Kerastase Reflection Shampoo and Maque
Bumble and bumble Surf Spray
j.f. lazartigue Intensive Scalp Revitalizer
CHI Straightener and Dryer

Fess up, what's the worst beauty look you've tried to rock and look back at now with a little shame or apprehension that you actually did that?
Spiral perm when I was in grade school.  I would post a picture, but it's in an album buried in a box under other boxes...  Oh well and too bad - eh??  To be clear, she was NOT to blame.  This was during the period of time before my mom went to cosmetology school.  I was obsessed with everything that wasn't naturally me - blonde hair, blue eyes, fair skin and curly hair.  My mom let me try the curly hair - super, tight curls with no layers...  yikes.

I tried the perm look again a few years ago.  This time my mom was to blame, but in a GOOD way!  I loved my perm!!  Below is the "good" perm towards the end of it's life:

FYI: Not the hubs

It wasn't the Tight Spiral Curl Disaster of the 1990's, but a more natural looking wave.  Also, my hair was incredibly long and my mom cut layers which balanced the look.  I think about doing it again time to time because it was so easy to style.

When it comes to beauty products, we all use the same basic products. What do you use that helps show off your personal flare and personality?
I like to experiment and add a little something extra.  For instance, I'm attracted to bright bold lips when I wear lipstick, unexpected nail colors and designs, glitter eye liners and I love playing with different hairstyles.  I think it's nice to add a little flair in your beauty routine and I enjoy trying new things!

Big thanks to Katy with ModlyChic for the wonderful questions and creating Friend Friday!

4 kisses:

I agree, Rosebud Salve is amazing! I couldn't go a day without it. And I'm totally jealous of your awesome hair products. I'm going to try to send my mom to cosmetology school right now.....

Happy Birthday is my favorite nail polish EVER! So worth the large price tag.

Lala - Have you tried layering Happy Birthday over another polish (like white or black)? It's fantastic!

The cherry mocha lipstick would look great. I would like to experiment with it on a tanned look.
